What southern Florida (and my home state of Pennsylvania) is talking about this week:
Klaus, the homeless man who lived behind a gas station near a McDonalds down in Miami ... and who was befriended by a man (and his family) as part of that guy's commitment to teaching his kids about random acts of kindness.
What started out with a simple donated meal ... and then a haircut ... and then a few nights put up in a hotel ... eventually led to a reunion between Klaus, a former German model in the 80's who had been living on the streets for over a dozen years after coming to the area for hip surgery after which he lost his job, and his long lost family of daughters back in Pennsylvania, where he now lives.
See -- it's not all bad news all the time ... and for a bonus happy story about dealing with the homeless crisis, see the summary of the special Pearl Jam concerts that were held this month in the link below/to follow. May they serve as inspiration for you to see what change you can make in YOUR world.
