What southern Florida is talking about this week:
... the start of hurricane season, of course.
Recognizing that this might be a controversial statement, part of me feels like I still haven't quite experienced one yet. Since the big move from Chitown to the FTL, the closest ones were Matthew in 2016 (I was out of town and it pretty much only grazed the area) and Irma last year (which was actually a tropical storm on this side of the state with occasional bursts of hurricane force winds).
So here's to whatever comes our way in 2018 -- and obviously we're all hoping that no one from the list accompanying this post (with some names of friends, family and relatives on it!) will actually pay us a visit ... or if they do, they will do so with minimal damage.
