Prison Whip-its!
Used in a sentence: "A&E's real life prison experiment '60 Days In' has replaced Sesame Street for its educational expertise ... at least so much so that I learned that the whippets that were going around when I was younger have been replaced with new (and improved?) prison whip-its"!
Note -- it appears that the interwebs aren't clear as to exactly how the drug version is spelled: whether it's like those cute long legged dogs or whether it's more like the cans of whipped cream from whence the little nitrous oxide canisters once came (or so I've been told).
Regardless, as near as I can find, the recipe for this kind of questionable illegal activity (although, from the show, it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem for the jailfolk) is to make prison taffy but to slip crushed up medicine into it that they "cheek'd" instead of swallowed at the drug lineup.
And now you know ... just in case you find yourself locked up and offered some "candy". You're welcome!
