I don't mean to go off on a rave here, but ...
[note: as a reminder, I've given up ranting on Saturdays for Lent -- which means I reserve the right to slip a rant in to a post on any other day of the week, and I reserve the right to resume ranting on Saturdays in April]
... I couldn't be more pleased to announce that the Amaryllis has appeared again for its annual show of splendor.
Back in Chicago, where it was purchased at the Botanical Gardens in 2013 the Christmas before we left town for the big move to Florida, it was a holiday thing, pushing up its beautiful flowers for Thanksgiving, again for Christmas and a third time just before the move. Sadly, the stalk was crushed moving in to the first house ... but since then, it's bloomed just once each year between March and May for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
And now ... 2018 ... where the big question will be -- will we see TWO stalks and TWO flowers ... or will it be like last year, where there was a bonus set of leaves on the side. Stay tuned for the naming ceremony (after it gets a little taller) ... amaryllis, we await your beauty!
